Architecture-Based Analysis

Delivering Effective Business Change

Our Core Principles

Architecture-Based Analysis is a community of like-minded business analysts/architects who are committed to four main principles:

  1. Architecture and Business Analysis are meant to be used in tandem to deliver business value.

  2. The concepts of visualization and context are vital in providing high quality requirement information.

  3. Architecture and Business Analysis should not be a “technical thing”; this view can compromise the quality of the business change.

  4. Anyone should be able to do ABA as long as they have a critical thinking mindset (and a little training from this website).

How Do I Get Started?
It's Easy!

First, become a member of our community!

If you would like to learn how to conduct a project start-to-finish using our methodology, simply download our Requirements Lifecycle spreadsheet. This spreadsheet is designed as an adaptable tool to help manage requirements through one or more projects within your organization.

If your goal is to conduct a specific technique or business activity, feel free to browse our library of over 100 Quick Guides under the Tools and Techniques page of our website.

Doug

Doug has been working as an architect and business analyst since 1992, before either discipline had a formal name. He relishes the challenge of building architecture-based analysis practices in any organization from the largest government departments to small
upstart companies. As he looks towards retirement, he wanted some way to provide what he has learned to anyone who wishes to share his passion. Working as an advisor to build a community seemed like the perfect way to accomplish this goal!

Kate

Kate began her involvement with Architecture-Based Analysis 3 years ago and has since discovered that her inquisitive mind makes her quite the natural. Her background in biology fostered a curiosity that has served her well as a business analyst and allowed her to offer a fresh perspective. She has an ECBA certification from the International Institute of Business Analysis. She has worked hard to make ABA a reality and is excited to see how it will help others navigate this awesome field!

Greta

Greta is an ambitious learner who is constantly searching for new perspectives and methods of understanding new topics. She graduated from the University of Kansas at 20 years old with a major in anthropology and a minor in African language after studying in Kenya for 2 months. The experiences she had during her studies have given her
insight into the multitude of different ways people think and learn in a variety of fields across the world. Additionally, she has a passion for writing that has grown and
developed over time, whether it be for academic or entertainment purposes. These combined skills have allowed her to help ABA ensure products are easily digestible for a
wide audience as well as generate creative ideas for the company as a whole.
